Gregory Brown
Gregory Brown brings a distinctly creative eye to the table—as both a fashion designer/teacher and floral designer rooted in Atlanta’s vibrant artistic community. Though less prominent in mainstream media, his work in fashion education speaks to a deep understanding of aesthetics, form, timeless silhouettes and images, and the power of visual storytelling. Meanwhile, his design sensibility breathes life into floral arrangements, blending structural intuition with elegance. With his dual experience in fashion and floral design, Gregory infuses Excelsior Floral Studio with a stylish touch, modern sensibility, and a dedication to craft. Gregory, born in rural South Georgia, with parents who were laborers started working at local flower shops under the late Robert Pitts, Jr. Later relocating to the Atlanta area, Gregory continued to design flowers for small and large wedding ceremonies, other events and; not to mention, serving bereaved families through local funeral parlors etc. Gregory designed flowers for the family of the late Dr. Christine King Farris, sister of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., family of the late Congressman John Lewis, family of the late Reverend C.T. Vivian, family of the late business-owner, Bernard Phillip, II and many, many others. For the past 30 years, Gregory has been a fashion-designer and tailor for many performers, artists, athletes, brides/grooms and etc. Gregory has been fortunate to design for Patti LaBelle, the Clark Sisters, the late Albertina Walker, Pastor Shirley Caesar, Mother Mary Tucker, Tramaine Hawkins, and many others. Studying Fine Arts later in life, Gregory desired to perfect his craft in floral design and textile. Recently, retiring his service as General Manager in hospitality, Gregory confirms that the process of service comes easy having worked in hospitality for decades and growing up with parents who believed that “kindness” came from one’s youth – years. Gregory still serves his clients in the metro-Atlanta area, Gregory is excited about what the days ahead will bring at Excelsior with his God-sister and business partner, Angie Kelly.
